My garden

My garden

My garden is 10 meters (32ft) wide and 20 meters (65 ft) long (200m2 / 2152sqft). It contains:

  • 20 beds with seasonal vegetables and edible parenials
  • 2 flower beds
  • 2 herbal beds
  • 1 seed perserving bed
  • edible green fence (in the making)

My garden lies in the frontyard of our house which is situated in the valley, between hills and a small creek.

The in-between-hills location is the reason that the summer sun shines in the garden until about 5pm. The proximity of the creek causes higher diurnal temperature variations.

Because of the garden’s location I had great results growing beans, root vegetables, onions, peppers and pumpkins. The biggest challenge are the tomatoes which I (as os this year) decided to grow in pots under the roof, next to the south house wall. 🙂

The garden lies Slovenia, Europe in USDA hardiness zone 7.

I like to experiment and use different gardening approaches on the garden. I especially like permaculture and also try to implement biodynamic methods in my gardening.
